REVENUE SURVEYS AND GENERAL.
17. Surveys were made in detail for plans to be attached to Crown Leases of 869 lots. These surveys entailed very accurate measurements of all boundaries, dimensions in every case being given to the nearest inch. Co-ordinate values at each angle of a lot were obtained and the areas computed by double latitudes. The measurements, co-ordinates and areas were entered in a special book kept for record purposes.
18. Surveys were made of several areas of various sizes for plans to be attached to deeds of surrender.
19. Contour surveys as detailed below were made and plotted.

The whole of these surveys was carried out by tachemetrical methods from traverses which have their origins in main or subsidiary traverses in the vicinities. The level values were
obtained from known values of Bench Marks.

22. In addition to the above a survey was made of Shan Ha Village (Sap Pat Heung Valley), the area being 4 acres, length of traverses 5300 ft., linear misclose 1 in 6000 and angular misclose 1' 20". Building blocks at Tai Po Market were survey- ed, a total area of 2 acres with a linear misclose of 1 in 5000 and an angular misclose of 1′ 20′′. Two beaches at Castle Peak (Main beach and "Cafeteria" Beach) were surveyed for position of bathing sheds. The area was 12 acres, the linear closing error 1 in 5000 and angular 1' 20".
23. The Kwan Ti race course was surveyed in connection with the issue of a Crown Lease but plotting had not been completed at the end of the year. The area surveyed was 60 acres, total length of traverses 17,300 feet, with an average linear misclose of 1 in 6000 and an angular misclose of 1′ 20′′.
24. The boundaries of 318 lots of various sizes were defined on the ground, chiefly for building purposes. In addition the line of sea wall and proposed road at North Point and the line of the proposed new sea wall at Kennedy Town were set out and permanent marks fixed for reference for setting out proposed new roads. 28 acres held on permit were demarcated, also the European Cemetery of 11 acres at Shek Kap Mi, a new site for Victoria Orphanage, the site for the Central British School of 9 acres, Kowloon Cemetery No. 3, site for new Magistracy, pro- posed Anglican Church at Kowloon Tong.
